Sue Tozer 01275 796252

Profile

My name is Doctor Annette Farrant and I am a fully chartered and registered Clinical Neuropsychologist. I am on the Specialist Register of the British Psychological Society Division of Neuropsychology.

I have worked in Neuropsychology departments in the NHS since 1998. These include Addenbrookes Hospital and Charing Cross Hospital and I am currently Head of Neuropsychology Services at Avon & Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership Trust

Neuropsychological Assessment

Neuropsychology assessments can inform diagnosis of a neurological condition. It can also be helpful in providing a measure of the cognitive impairment after an acquired brain trauma such as stroke or head injury. Recommendations can be made for future treatments or investigations.

Memory Assessment

An assessment can help to distinguish between normal age-related memory problems, memory problems related to mood (anxiety and depression) or those which may relate to an underlying organic cause such as dementia.

An assessment can identify potentially treatable conditions such as depression or medical problems which can cause memory difficulties. If the assessment suggests a possible dementia, then the findings can be used when consulting with a G.P., neurologist or old age psychiatrist on further investigations and on possible treatments.

The Assessment

This will involve an interview, possibly including someone who knows you well. It will also involve the completion of various tests that assess memory, concentration and other thinking skills. This can take about three hours.

Assessments can be carried out at my offices, or a home visit can be arranged if a suitable quiet room is available.

The Outcome

The assessment will provide a detailed profile of your memory and other thinking skills. A full written report will be provided and a session providing verbal feedback can be offered in addition.
